Why Your Music Will Never Get Heard by the Masses

Over 125,000 songs are uploaded to Digital Service Providers (DSPs) like Spotify EVERY DAY. Let that sink in.

If you release a song this month, your song will be one out of over 3,750,000 new songs this month. And, that’s just NEW songs. Think about ALL the songs that already exist on DSPs.

In the year 2023, according to Luminate, over 158.6 million tracks each received 1,000 or fewer plays and over 45.6 million of those tracks received zero plays.

Don’t you think your song deserves to get a chance at being discovered by potential listeners and fans? In today’s oversaturated music landscape, that’s REALLY hard to do without being intentional about it.

Too often we see artists spending thousands of dollars on production only to see their song fall flat on its face once they release it because NO ONE found out about it besides their few Facebook friends who saw their post and bothered to click through to stream it.

At Marketing with Wisdom, we receive multiple inquiries a week from artists who are releasing music without a plan. They get the final masters from their producer and ask, “What do I do now? I guess just upload it to digital platforms?”

Unfortunately, more often than not, by the time we hear from the artist, they are out of money or out of time.

We encourage every artist to create a marketing plan at least 8 weeks BEFORE the release date. How is your song going to stand out among the millions of songs that will be released in the same month as yours? How will you leverage tools like videos, social media and playlists to reach people beyond your circle?
