Don’t Give Up!

Last week, I had the privilege of spending several days with 30+ artists and songwriters from all over the country at our second annual Worship Songwriters Retreat.

I left our time together feeling incredibly encouraged and inspired just from being around so many other passionate, gifted people, and thought I'd share a few things I'm still thinking about, in hopes that it will encourage you as well.

  1. Don't. Give. Up. If you're following the calling God's placed on your life, then don't give up. Period. He has something He wants to do in and through you — don't miss it.

  2. God's metrics for success aren't the same as the world's. If you're following what you feel like God's called you to, I'd encourage you to not only measure your progress by the world's standards of likes, views, and streams, but also by the Father's standards. Are you growing in holiness? Is what you're making encouraging others or helping them feel less alone?

  3. Lastly, when you get stuck, it's okay to take a break. Sometimes a walk, snack, or change of scenery is just what you need to remove writer's block.

If you're a worship artist or songwriter looking to grow and form relationships with other like-minded individuals, be sure to keep an eye on our emails. We'll let you know about our next retreat, as well as other similar events coming up!
